about

‘Getaway’ blends the groups love for home spun, light touch sound production and 1960s/70s melody-focused song writing. Expressive slide guitars weave together the songs lyrical references to American country folklore and the classic rock cannon, all are fair game for the Flannelettes as they spin a tale of modern boredom and escapism that will have listeners tapping their toes and singing along.

The archetype of the ramblin’ outlaw is as old as the hills, yet remains evergreen subject mattter for country songwriters. Lead singer Mark Curtis explains that the inspiration for ‘Getaway’ was born from his desire to explore this character from a less conventional angle, remaining true to his own experience of not being one!. "I found a lot of inspiration from outsider art and songwriters like Kurt Cobain. Curtis says. " This song is all about escaping the daily grind and living in the moment, but from the perspective of an observer, someone who cannot participate themselves, so there’s a inherent building tension throughout."
